Check the correct condition of the shower tray and verify that it matches the chosen finish and color. Before installation, the tray must always be stored horizontally or vertically, but never at an angle, as this could deform it. All shower trays can be trimmed with a diamond disc cutter. The cut side will never have the same finish as the other sides, so the cut side should face the wall. It is not recommended to place the shower tray on legs. This could deform the tray and in this case, the warranty would be voided. It is possible to install the tray on a high-density extruded polystyrene base, following the gluing and leveling instructions indicated below.
*The positioning of the valve depends on the model of the shower tray. The indicated measurements only specify the dimensions for the placement of the valve and the drainage pipe.
Choose the height of the base:
Position the siphon valve where it will be permanently installed with the shower tray. Calculate the minimum height at which the valve can be installed so that water flows correctly towards the drain easily. Ensure that the drain has the proper slope towards the main drain or siphon for water evacuation; we recommend a minimum slope of 1% for the drainage pipe.
This valve height will determine the minimum height at which the shower tray can be installed and the height of the base on which it will rest.
This factor is crucial for cases where we want to install a shower tray flush with the floor, which is not possible in all cases.
Prepare the base:
The resin shower tray is not completely rigid as it must maintain flexibility to adapt to different temperature changes. For this reason, it must be installed on a smooth and compact base, which will prevent deformation.
The shower tray is manufactured with the necessary slopes for water flow to circulate towards the drain, so the tray should always be installed flat or with a slight slope towards the drain (maximum 0.5% in favor of the drain, meaning that in 1 meter it drops 0.5 centimeters) never with a slope against the drain.
The drop from the valve to the main drain or siphon must be at least 1% as this slope will largely determine whether our valve drains well or not.
The base must be made of concrete, at least on the top part that will be in contact with the bottom of the shower tray. The shower tray must not be placed on a bed of sand under any circumstances. The base should cover 100% of the tray except for the minimum gap for the valve, approximately 20x20 cm, and the outlet for the drainage pipe. At the time of installation, the concrete base must be perfectly dry, completely smooth, and without deformations, as the tray would copy the shape of the base and could deform, creating areas with poor drainage and water accumulation.
Placement of the drainage valve:
Once the water drainage (valve and pipes) is in place and before the final adhesion, the tray should be presented with the valve (without gluing it yet) and a water flow test should be conducted across the entire shower tray to verify that it drains correctly from all parts of the tray and that there is no slope defect in any area of the tray, as well as ensuring that the valve drains correctly and that the shower tray is perfectly stable on the base.
Placement of the shower tray:
Before gluing, ensure that the surface is clean and dry. Apply lines of polyurethane glue or cement adhesive like Sika-flex on the base, in the direction of length. Place the shower tray and verify that it remains level with respect to the base and that the siphon valve fits without forcing and drains correctly. It is advisable to leave a space of 3mm to 6mm maximum between the tray and the walls. The ceramic should be placed above, respecting a small gap, a few millimeters is sufficient. These gaps should serve as expansion joints.
The final waterproofing should be done with a small bead of neutral silicone all around the shower tray where it contacts the wall or ceramic. If tiling and bathroom enclosure work needs to be done later, it is recommended to protect the shower tray from splashes of cement adhesive or silicone. If this occurs, it should be cleaned immediately with a damp sponge and not allowed to dry. It would then be very difficult to restore the original appearance of the shower tray. (Refer to the box below if using one of the mentioned products) Not following this procedure will result in the loss of the warranty on the shower tray.
In the event that there are remnants of dried cement, these can be removed with hydrochloric acid and a green scouring pad, but it should be noted that this product must be used with certain precautions. It cannot be used where there are chrome finishes (the gases generated will corrode all chrome, such as faucets, shower screens, etc.) and above all, it cannot be mixed with bleach as it generates deadly gases.
Maintenance and cleaning:
Our shower trays do not require special treatment as they can be cleaned with almost all common cleaning products. It is recommended to use a sponge and soapy water for cleaning the shower tray.
Never use abrasive sponges. Please refer to the box below if using different products.
IMPORTANT: if you need to unclog the siphon or drainage pipes, it is very important to be careful not to spill products containing sulfuric acid or caustic soda on the shower tray. It is recommended to use a funnel to pour this type of product directly into the siphon. These products could irreversibly damage the surface of the shower tray.
Regular maintenance with anti-lime products is especially recommended in areas with hard water to prevent lime from depositing in our tray.
Repairs
Our trays can be easily repainted in case of a possible chip or even if we want to change color in the future; we have paint kits available for this.
Warranty:
The tray has a 2-year warranty from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects (it is necessary to present the invoice or purchase ticket and these instructions), excluding all defects generated by improper use, poor installation, or normal wear and tear. Any installation that is not carried out following all our instructions will void the warranty on the shower tray. The warranty only covers the repair or replacement of a new tray, in no case the installation and removal work of the defective tray.
