Check that the shower tray is in good condition and that it corresponds to the chosen finish and colour. Before installation, the tray must always be stored horizontally or vertically, but never at an angle, as this could deform it. All shower trays can be cut using a diamond-bladed angle grinder. The cut part will never have the same finish as the other sides, which is why the cut part must face the wall. It is not advisable to place the shower tray on legs. This could deform the tray and, in this case, the guarantee would be voided. It is possible to install the tray on a high-density extruded polystyrene base, respecting the gluing and planimetry instructions indicated below.
*The positioning of the valve depends on the shower tray model. The measurements indicated only specify the dimensions for the placement of the valve and the discharge pipe.
Selecting the base height:
Place the siphon valve in the place where it will be installed with the shower tray. Calculate the minimum height at which the valve can be installed so that the water flows correctly towards the drain with ease. Check that the drain has the slope up to the general downpipe or the siphon container suitable for evacuating the water; we recommend a minimum slope of the drain pipe of 1%.
This valve height will determine the minimum height at which the shower tray can be installed and the height of the base on which it will rest.
This factor is essential for those cases where we want to install a shower tray flush with the floor, something that is not possible in all cases.
Prepare the base:
The resin shower tray is not completely rigid, as it must be flexible enough to adapt to different temperature changes. For this reason, it must be installed on a smooth and compact base, which will prevent it from deforming.
The shower tray is manufactured with the necessary inclinations so that the water flow circulates towards the drain, so the tray must always be installed flat or with a slight inclination towards the drain (maximum 0.5% in favor of the drain, which means that in 1 meter it falls 0.5 centimeters) never with an inclination against the drain.
The valve drop to the general descent or to the siphon bottle must be at least 1% since this inclination is what will largely determine whether our valve swallows well or not.
The base must be made of cement, at least on the upper part that will be in contact with the bottom of the shower tray. The shower tray must never be placed on a bed of sand. The base must cover 100% of the tray, except for the minimum space for the valve, approximately 20x20 cm, and the outlet for the drainage pipe. At the time of installation, the cement base must be perfectly dry, completely smooth and without deformations, since the tray would copy the shape of the base and could deform, generating areas with poor drainage and accumulation of water.
Installing the drain valve:
Once the water drainage (valve and pipes) has been installed and before final gluing, the tray must be presented with the valve (without gluing it yet) and a water flow test must be carried out on the entire shower tray and a check must be made that it drains correctly from all parts of the tray and that there is no slope defect in any area of the tray, as well as that the valve drains correctly and that the shower tray is perfectly stable on the base.
Installation of the shower tray:
Before gluing, make sure that the surface is clean and dry. Apply polyurethane glue or sika-flex cement glue along the base in the lengthwise direction. Position the shower tray and check that it is still level with the base and that the siphon valve fits without forcing and drains correctly. It is advisable to leave a space of 3mm to 6mm maximum between the tray and the walls. The ceramic should be placed on top, leaving a small space; a few millimetres are enough. These spaces should serve as an expansion joint.
The final waterproofing must be done with a small bead of neutral silicone all around the shower tray, the parts of which are in contact with the wall or the ceramic. If the work of tiling and installing bathroom enclosures has to be done later, it is recommended to protect the shower tray from cement adhesive or silicone splashes. If this happens, it must be cleaned immediately with a damp sponge and not waited for it to dry. It will then be very difficult to restore the original appearance of the shower tray. (Go to the following table if you use one of the products mentioned) Failure to follow this procedure will result in the loss of the guarantee on the shower tray.
In the event that we have dried cement remains, these can be removed with hydrochloric acid and a green scouring pad, but we must remember that this product must be used with certain care. It cannot be used where there is chrome (only the gases it generates will tarnish all the chrome, such as taps, screens, etc.) and above all it cannot be mixed with bleach as it generates deadly gases.
Maintenance and cleaning:
Our shower trays do not require any special treatment as they can be cleaned with almost all common cleaning products. It is recommended to use a sponge and soapy water to clean the shower tray.
Never use an abrasive sponge. Please refer to the table below if you are using different products.
IMPORTANT: If you need to unclog the siphon or the drainage pipes, it is very important to be careful not to spill products containing sulphuric acid or caustic soda onto the shower tray. It is recommended to use a funnel to pour this type of product directly into the siphon. These products could irreversibly damage the surface of the shower tray.
In areas with calcareous water, regular maintenance with anti-limescale products is especially recommended to prevent limescale from being deposited on our dishes.
Repairs
Our plates can be easily repainted in case of a possible chip or even if we want to change the colour in the future, for which we have painting kits.
Warranty:
The shower tray has a 2-year guarantee from the time of purchase against manufacturing defects (it is necessary to present an invoice or receipt and these instructions), excluding any defects caused by improper use, poor installation or normal wear and tear. Any installation that is not carried out following all our instructions will void the guarantee on the shower tray. The guarantee only covers the repair or replacement of a new tray, in no case the works of installation and removal of the defective tray.
