Differences between resin shower trays

Are all resin shower trays the same? There are several factors to take into account to know the quality of a resin shower tray and not be carried away by the price alone. A shower tray is a decorative element that will be added to our bathroom and will probably not be changed again and therefore we must take into account a series of details if we want the shower tray we have chosen to be a total success.
  • Shower tray coating treatment: This treatment will be of great importance for the maintenance and condition of the shower tray over time.
    • Gel coat: This is the most commonly used treatment for shower trays. The cheapest resin shower trays are usually made of gel coat , but it is also important to note that not all gel coats are the same . If the gel coat chosen is a very simple treatment, it can cause the shower tray to deteriorate more quickly and in light colours it can even turn yellow. Can you imagine buying a white shower tray and after two years it starts to change colour in some areas? At Baño Total, the resin gel coat shower trays are of high quality and we will not have these problems.
    • Acrylic polyurethane: This treatment is also used to paint boats. Acrylic polyurethane is a higher quality treatment and shower trays made of acrylic polyurethane resin are considered “premium” shower trays.
  • Non-slip treatment: Safety when showering and having a surface with grip is very important. Therefore, it is important to check carefully whether the shower tray has a non-slip treatment and what category of non-slip it is. The C3 score is the highest that a shower tray can have. We take this opportunity to deny that the texture of the shower tray (slate or smooth) does not influence the grip, it is the treatment that it is made of and its score.
  • Hardness of the shower tray: The shower tray must have such hardness that it should not suffer deformations or alterations with its use, and for this reason it must have the maximum score, which is class 1 for durability.
  • Antibacterial treatment: A hygiene place must have this treatment, surfaces where small microorganisms cannot adhere.
  • Easy to clean: Shower trays that do not require a lot of maintenance and are very easy to clean. Not all are like this, and they should reflect this.
  • Equipment: For the correct installation of the shower tray, a valve and a grid will be necessary, elements that must be included with the shower tray.
At Baño Total we work with gel coat and acrylic polyurethane shower trays , both of high quality. In addition, regardless of the type of treatment , all our shower trays have the highest score for anti-slip treatments (C3), class 1 durability, antibacterial treatments, easy cleaning and with valve and grids included in each model.
