How to clean and maintain a shower screen

Shower screens are decorative elements that require care and maintenance. We often think that because shower screens have an anti-limescale coating, we don't have to worry about cleaning the glass... but this is one of the most common mistakes. The anti-limescale will help the water and grease drops from soap slide off better and have a harder time sticking to the glass, but if we do not wring out the drops after finishing the shower, over time, stains can still form. Therefore, it is recommended to drain the drops off the tempered glass of a shower screen, regardless of whether it is anti-limescale or not, after use.

Importance of cleaning and maintaining a shower screen:

The anti-limescale will help with maintenance, but it does not prevent stains from being caused by improper use. Another of the major problems with shower screens is usually the lower part, the lower profiles where the bearings of the sliding screens go. It is a point where humidity and lime accumulate and over time they can break, rust and not work correctly if proper maintenance is not carried out. It is very important to use cleaning products. It is recommended to avoid hydrochloric acid, as the vapours from this product cause pitting, stains and even rust on profiles and bearings. Therefore, you should avoid hydrochloric acid, ammonia and bleach, the products that are usually used for scrubbing. The products we recommend are cleaning vinegar or viakal. If you want a simple, economical and easy-to-maintain shower screen, we recommend fixed shower screens, a tempered glass panel without lower profiles or bearings. Cleaning and maintaining a shower screen If you want a shower screen with sliding doors and want to avoid future problems with the lower profiles, we recommend shower screens with sliding doors WITHOUT lower profiles. They are much easier to maintain, facilitate access to the shower tray, are aesthetically more attractive and do not cause the problems that shower screens with lower profiles of bearings and rusty, pitted or stained profiles cause. If you are looking for a shower screen with sliding doors and without lower profiles and also with double-sided anti-limescale, we recommend the new range of shower screens from Baño Total, with a wide range of measurements and available in various profile colours (matt black, gloss chrome and matt white) with the option of being transparent or digitally printed.
